Official Rules and Guidelines Empty
PostSubject: Official Rules and Guidelines   Official Rules and Guidelines Icon_minitime1Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:25 pm

Here are the OFFICIAL rules of the Gamers United. You have NO excuses to break any of these rules, as they are right here for you to reference. Please read them over thoroughly.

Official Rules

1. NO SPAMMING
Spamming is pointless, stupid, and overall, very immature. These forums are here to bring us together as a community, not to be annoyed by immature members. I hope we can keep this place going with a mature attitude.

2. CUSSING
I know for some people its normal to say whatever they want, but try to keep things clean while you are on the forums. [A Censor is in place for some words]

3. NO FLAMING
Just no flaming. Simple as that. Again, this reaches a solid 0 on the maturity scale. Almost the same as spamming, just don't do it.

4. NO HARASSMENT
There is always going to be that person you don't like. We do have an ignore section here on the forums, I would ask you to use that before resorting to hunting down and, for a lack of better terms, trolling someone based on how you feel.

5. RESPECT
This rule isn't much of a rule as it is a request. We know some people don't deserve anyones respect, but try to keep in mind that we all share this place.

6. NO ABUSING GU POINT SYSTEM
The point system is meant to be there for fun, but its also a rewards system. Do not abuse that or we will remove it. There will be areas on the forum where you will find UT points being useful.

7. POST IN THE RIGHT PLACES
Make sure you guys follow the category lists and forum titles. Post in the right places. You would think this is the easiest rule, but you would be surprised.

8. KEEP IT LEGAL
Gamers United has to follow strict rulings based off of Forumotion guidelines. If there are any 'illegal' actions, things will be done to keep the forum from receiving punishment. This follows as:
-Copyrighted Material
-Pornography
-Real World Scams
Any user who posts material which is Against the Law to pass out, will have their post(s) removed / edited.
Any user who posts material without the consent of the original owner will have their post(s) removed / edited, if it becomes an issue with the original owner.

*Note: this rule was not added as a punishment, it has been added to protect the forums & it's members.

9. COMPLAINING TO MODERATORS
This has been going on for quite some time now; a member thinks that a moderator is not doing their job, or "abusing their power". There are many situations that a person thinks this, and they start harassing and talking down the moderator. Not only are you breaking multiple rules, but you are acting like a child. If you do not think that a moderator is fair, report the situation to an owner. If you complain to a moderator, be it via PM or in a thread, you will have your account deactivated. Moderators are told to moderate at their discretion, and if you are unable to follow the rules, they WILL act accordingly.

10. NUDITY
Nudity is absolutely 100% unacceptable here on the forums. We do our best to keep a PG-14 experience for all of our members. Not only is it absolutely unacceptable, it is also ILLEGAL to those underage, against the law, and can come back to hurt the forums.

11. TROLLING
We get it, you don't like that certain thing or maybe a particular group, we all do. That does NOT give you the excuse to go onto a topic about something you dislike just so you can post rude comments or talk down to the other member who do. This goes along with RESPECT. Be nice to each other. (Do you see a pattern?)

12. THREADOMANCY
Threadomancy, the art of "reviving" threads which have become inactive.
DO NOT revive threads that have been rendered irrelevant over the inactive period. Only post on old threads if the topic is still viable and you can contribute a new angle on it.

13. BAN AVOIDANCE
If you get a new IP, new account, whatever to get onto the forums while you are banned, you will be found, and you will be banned again. If you can't handle the fact that you made the mistake before, then there is no reason to come back to do it again.

14. GRAMMAR
Don't worry; we're not going to ban you or anything like that if you're not good at this, but please try your best to post with reasonably good grammar, punctuation, etc... Bad grammar can be very hard to understand, and believe it or not, it just makes the place look better if posts are posted with good grammar. So come on guys, capitalize your "I's" and end your sentences with a period, question mark, etc. Keep in mind that this is a forum, and not an instant messenger or chatroom. This should also help keep any remarks based off bad grammar to a minimum.

15. POLITICS
We all have our own opinions on how things are done, but this isn't the place to bring them up. All it does is cause flaming, and then people also get irritated when people speak about something when they don't know what it is about. Any threads talking about serious politics will be locked and deleted, and you will get a warning. Fun posts may be ok, it depends on what they start. [This rule may be removed at any time in the future]

Gamers United Official Additional "Guidelines"
Note: These are NOT rules.

I. RELIGION
Religion is present in whatever part of the world in which you live, we do allow free expression of your views, as you have your right to do, but, IF it becomes an issue and flame wars start, the instigator(s) will be punished and discussion of religion on the Uuttitan Forums may be temporarily, if not indefinitely restricted for the sake of the peace of the forums.

II. BACKSEAT MODERATING
Due to the recent issues with "back-seat moderating", or "mini-modding", the Admin of the forums would like to make this very clear. Giving a friendly "this topic was already made", "Please stop fighting", or even a "lets get back on topic" is NOT modding. If anything, thats just a friendly reminder to abide by the rules that the forums do have. Acting as if a moderator is impersonating staff, and is something we do not wish to see on the forums. Punishment may be light, but you will have a "mark on your record" when it comes to any form of rank advancement.

III. ADVERTISEMENT
Advertising has a limit. I know many of you are youtubers, and you like to advertise your channels. We have a section for that, so please don't make new topics in different areas trying to get more attention, you will be punished and those topics will be deleted. For those of you who plan on joining to post links to hurt the forum, don't bother; you will be IP banned and your content will be removed. An advertisement area may be put up for certain other things in the future, until then please refrain from it.

Punishment Guidelines

Spamming/Advertising/Other minor inappropriate behaviour.
Two warnings followed by 7 day ban.

Trolling/Flaming/Harrassment/Other moderate inappropriate behaviour.
Two warnings followed by 14 day ban.

Posting illegal material (pornography in particular)/Ban Avoidance/Other Major inappropriate behaviour.
Immediate ban, 21+ days.

(Note: Administrators can always deviate slightly from the guidelines if the situation demands it.)

These rules will be updated as the forum's life goes on, so please check up on 'em once in awhile.

I hope we can all have a good time here at the Gamers United Forums. Any questions or comments can be messaged to any of the Admin or Moderators on this forum.

Thank you and have a nice day,
-Kanrik and Oniongravy64
